Abstract Objective To investigate the heart rate variability (HRV) of military pilots transferring to another airport. Methods Thirty-six military pilots who had transferred to another airport (Group 1) and another thirty-six military pilots who stayed put (Group 2) were randomly selected. ECG of both groups was recorded for two consecutive hours to measure and analyze their heart rate variability. Results The rate of HRV abnormity of pilots in Group 1 was significantly higher than that in Group 2 (P<0.01). SDNN , rMSSD, TP, LF, HF of pilots in Group 1 were all significantly lower than those in Group 2(P<0.01), but the LF/HF of pilots in Group 1 was significantly higher than that of Group 2 (P<0.05).Conclusion The heart rate variability of military pilots transferring to another airport can be decreased significantly. Some effective measures should be taken to solve this problem.
