Abstract:Objective To quantitatively assess self-esteem and personality, general well-being among recruits. Methods Self-Esteem Scale(SES), Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ) and General Well-Being Schedule(GWBS) were used to test the mental state of 240 recruits. Results (1) High self-esteem group of recruits had lower scores of EPQ-P and EPQ-N(t=-2.628,-3.270,P<0.01), but higher scores of GWBS (t=3.790,P<0.01). (2)The scores of SES and GWBS showed a positive correlation, whereas EPQ-P, EPQ-N and EPQ-L showed a negative correlation (P<0.01). (3) EPQ-N had the biggest effect on the total score of SES, followed byGWBS andEPQ-P.Conclusion There is statistically significant difference in EPQ and GWBS between recruits with different levels of self-esteem. Self-esteem, EPQ and GWBS are closely related. EPQ and GWBS can predict SES directly among the 240 recruits.
