Abstract Objective To investigate the knowledge and education of sexual health among hygienic sergeantsso as to provide evidence better education on sexual health among PAPs at the grass-roots level.Methods A survey about sexual and reproductive health was conducted among 207 medical sergeants in one college of PAP in 2014. Results The pencentage of hygienic sergeants who expressed a need for sexual and reproductive health knowledge was 56.2%. The main sources of sexual and reproductive health knowledge were books (62.2%), followed by health education lectures (53.2%) and class instructions (51.2%). Lectures on sexual health were their favorite (74.6%). They were eager for some sexual knowledge, but only 5% of the units at the grass-roots level offered sexual education.Conclusion Hygienic sergeants generally hope for sexual health education, but efforts of education at the grass-roots level can hardly meet their requirements. More efforts are needed to make education on sexual and reproductive health more accessible to servicemen.
