Effects of 8-Week Basic Military Training on Red Blood Cells of Army Recruits and other Related Indicators |

Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of 8-week basic military training(BMT) on army recruits' 'red blood cells and other related indicators.Methods Data were from 50 male recruits of Xinjiang Frontier Armed Police Forces in 2015. The hemogram and serum ferritin of the subjects were measured and recorded at the beginning and end of 8-week BMT respectively.Results After 8-week BMT, hemoglobin concentration(HGB), red blood cell count(RBC), and serum ferritin decreased significantly(P<0.05,P<0.01).Conclusion For the army recruits , 8-week BMT can lead to sports anemia, and iron deficiency may be the leading cause.
