Effect of Drug Clinical Trials on Therapeutic Effect and Cognitive Behavior of Patients with Diabetes Mellitus |

Abstract Objective To evaluate the effect of drug clinical trials on the treatment effect and cognitive behavior of patients with diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 150 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) treated during March and December of 2014 were divided into two groups according to the patients' willingness to join the clinical trial group (study group, 75 cases) or the regular treatment group (control group, 75 cases). The study group received telephone follow-up once a week while the control group received conventional follow-up once a month. After 6 months, the changes of HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose (FPG), 2hPG, weight and diabetes cognitive behavior were observed. Results After intervention, HbA1c, FPG and 2hPG in the two groups were all decreased, while the diabetes knowledge score and weekly exercise amount were increased, but the amount of cigarette smoking and weight significantly decreased.All the indicators in the two groups were significantly different (P<0.05, P<0.01).Conclusion Patients with diabetes mellitus participating in clinical trials can improve their level of knowledge, promote the change of life behavior, strengthen the self-management ability, which can help manage theirblood glucose and HbA1c standard.
