Abstract Long-term environmental hazard exposure can result in varying degrees of impact on the development of the central nervous system(CNS) and on other functions, such as learning and memory, emotion and behavior. Corticotropin- releasing factor (CRF) is an endogenous neuropeptide found in recent years, which plays an important role in regulating the CNS need by binding to its G- protein receptors. This paper aims to review the effects of CRF and its receptor system on CNS injuries induced by environmental hazards.
