Abstract Along with changes in the social and natural environment, the mode of training and missions of the Chinese army are also changing. This paper analyzed the new trends and characteristics of major epidemic threats to Chinese army . Based on a comparison with local communities, the characteristics of and challenges to epidemic prevention and control in the military system were discussed. Finally, the four recommendations were offered as to how to improve the prevention and control of major epidemics with reference to related practices in the United States and other western countries.
