Abstract Objective To investigate and analyze the relationships between the expression of uPA and PAI-1 and breast cancer and its prognosis. Methods Between March 2012 and May 2014, 82 cases of breast cancer and 42 cases of benign breast tumor were selected in our hospital. The expression levels of uPA and PAI-1 were detected in both groups of patients, and the correlation between the expression level and breast cancer was analyzed. The cases of breast cancer included 27 cases of recurrence, 55 cases without recurrence, or alternatively 24 cases without metastasis, 58 cases without metastasis. The relationships between the positive expression rate of uPA and PAI-1 and prognosis of the patients after treatment was analyzed. Results The positive expression rate of uPA and PAI-1 in breast cancer group was higher than that in benign breast tumor group (P<0.05). The positive expression rate of PAI-1 and uPA in breast cancers with recurrence or metastasis was higher than in those without recurrence or metastasis(P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that OR values of uPA and PAI-1 in breast cancer, breast cancer with recurrence or metastasis were above zero. Conclusion Expressions of PAI-1 and uPA are correlated with breast cancer and its prognosis.
